Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment (also called root canal therapy, root canal procedure and root canal surgery) is surgical procedure to save tooth extraction when tooth is damaged or decayed. In root canal procedure pulp from tooth root canal is removed, and canal are filled with filling to close the opening. Most of the time a cap is also required.

Root canal treatment cost at our clinic is Rs 2000 in complex cases the charges may be slightly higher. The cost may depend on the tooth type and other details.
Who need Root canal treatment
Decayed tooth and exposed root canal causes sensitivity Root canal treatment is required when upper hard layer of tooth or molar is damaged and inner layer of tooth (pulp) is exposed. This causes sensitivity, infection and serve pain in the tooth. In such cases root canal treatment is required to save tooth and get relief from infection and pain.
Symptoms which indicates need of RCT
- Teeth highly sensitive to heat and cold
- Discolored Tooth
- Swelling or soreness in the gums surrounding the tooth
- Sometimes an X-Ray is required to determine if root canal is required.
Root Canal Procedure
The procedure requires local anesthetic to control the pain. Then tooth is slightly grinned to expose the root canals. After this pulp is removed from all root canals. Later canals are filled temporarily. In next few sittings permanent filling is done. One to three sittings depending upon tooth and damage. single sitting treatment is sometime possible but it is not recommended. Most of the time a cap is required after filling. A dentist can determine the best if cap is required or not.
Side effects of root canal treatment

Root Canal Therapy is not always required
However in some cases root canal treatment may not be good option at all. In such cases instead of root canal treatment Extraction of tooth is safest and most cost effective treatment. For example Root canal treatment should never be done for wisdom tooth and only extraction is highly recommended. Dentists can easily determine either to use Root canal treatment or extraction.
